Condemning the alleged rape of a woman and murder attempt on her in Imphal East on the night of November 1, the Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) has stated that it will actively support the movement demanding justice for the victim.
According to reports, the victim was called out from her house on the pretext of eloping by the accused identified as Chandam Rabichandra alias Ibomcha from Uyumpok Awang Leikai. The victim was then raped and beaten up until she became unconscious. She was later dumped by the accused at a powerhouse, thinking that she was dead. The next morning, people found the victim and she was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment. The accused person surrendered himself to the police on Friday, which is the next day of the alleged crime committed, IKAL said.
In this regard, a JAC was formed and demanded exemplary punishment to the culprit.
IKAL, in a release, strongly condemned the brutal act of rape and murder attempt. It urged the public to support the demand for appropriate punishment to the accused Rabichandra for justice to the victim.
