IG CRPF, Manipur and Nagaland sector call on Governor Anusuiya Uikey

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey appreciated the efforts put in by CRPF especially during the last three months and asked to lend support further in bringing normalcy and peace.

Sandeep Datta, IG, CRPF, Manipur & Nagaland Sector called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Thursday evening and apprised of the security situation in the state.

Accompanied by his wife Rajni Datta, Sector Head, CRPF Wives Welfare Association, the outgoing IG thanked the Governor for her guidance and briefed about the security measures being taken up by CRPF in tackling the prevailing situation and also in extending assistance to the violence affected people in the State, the Raj Bhavan said in a press release.

The Governor appreciated the efforts put in by CRPF especially during the last three months and asked to lend support further in bringing normalcy and peace. She asked the IG to distribute utility boxes to the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) staying at Biramangol College relief camp in Imphal East district and the IG assured that the same will be distributed to the IDPs on her behalf, the Raj Bhavan stated.

G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) along with Dr Sanjeev, Medical Superintendent also called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and briefed her about the various developmental projects being taken up in the Institute.

According to the Raj Bhavan, Dr Sunil said 90 operations and more than 300 free medical treatments were given to the affected victims of the violence.

The issue of students from hill areas studying in RIMS were also discussed and the Director informed the Governor that proposal has already been sent to the concerned ministry to accommodate them in medical institutes in Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram and response is still awaited, the Raj Bhavan stated. The Governor appreciated the efforts of doctors, nurses & staffs of RIMS in extending their support to the needy people of the State, it added.

Kulwant Singh Cheema also called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and apprised of the problems faced by the transporters in the State. He also expressed his willingness to extend support in resolving the crisis in the State.

Representatives of the Women Wing of COCOMI called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening and requested to investigate the atrocities committed on Meira Paibis by central security forces on August 3.

They submitted a memorandum requesting the Governor to take up necessary steps to investigate the incident in which around 90 women suffered injuries, the Raj Bhavan said, adding that they condemned the rape of one lady and requested for expedition of the case.

They also requested the Governor to take up all necessary steps to restore normalcy and peace at the earliest possible time. Governor assured them that she will ask the concerned authorities about the incident. She informed them that efforts are on to bring back normalcy and peace, the Raj Bhavan stated.
