A release issued by the ICCM stated that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent political imbroglio in neighbouring Myanmar have harshly affected the livelihood and economic condition of the people of the border town of Moreh.

“The government had been routinely imposing certain restrictions at Moreh as it is an international border town. However, these restrictions were seemingly imposed without much consideration of the plights and livelihoods of the people in and around Moreh,” it read.

It also extended acknowledgement to the border guard force of the 5th and 20th AR for being considerate by making adjustments and concessions for the sake of the livelihood of the people.
