As part of the Congress party’s nationwide movement demanding the BJP government investigation into the Hindenburg Research report, the TDCC and KDCC held protests at the respective district headquarters.

Workers of TDCC led by president Nongmaithem Lukhoi demonstrated the sit-in protest in front of the SBI office and the LIC office at Thoubal Athokpam. N Lukhoi accused the BJP government of forcing establishments including LIC and SBI “under the control of their greedy and wealthy friends such as the Adani group.”

Meanwhile, the KDCC also demonstrated a similar movement in front of the LIC office at Kakching. At the event, MPCC secretary Ksh Kennedy alleged that with the ruling BJP government led by PM N Modi, the economic inequality in India will increase significantly.

The handover of LIC and SBI to the Adani group by the BJP government has left an uncertain fate for the 29 crore LIC scheme holders and the 45 crore SBI account holders, he said.

At the demonstration, the protesters displayed placards which read ‘Stop Crony Capitalism’, ‘Congress Stand for Common People’, ‘Stop Amending Rule to benefit Adani', 'Congress demands JPC Probe', 'Success Forceful LIC and SBI’ etc.
