In the aftermath of the deadly attack in various areas of Imphal West by Kuki militants deploying high-tech drones equipped with numerous rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), the state government has constituted a five-members high level committee that will probe into the attack.
The committee will be chaired by Ashutosh Kumar Sinha additional DGP (Intelligence), Manipur.
Other key members include Major General SS Kartikeya, GOC, 57 Mountain Division, Leimakhong; Major General Ravroop Singh, IGAR (South), Mantripukhri; Vipul Kumar IG CRPF, Manipur & Nagaland Sector, Langjing; and J K Birdi DIG, SHQ of BSF CI (Ops), Manipur, said an order issued by the DGP Manipur.
It noted the death of one mother and injuries to several others, including three police personnel, during attack by suspected Kuki militants using high-tech drones equipped with numerous RPGs.
In order to critically examine and study into the drones deployed by these militants including collection of all relevant evidences, specifications of the drones used and how to effectively counter such drones, the following high-level committee was constituted, mentioned the order.
The committee may co-opt technical members as deemed fit, it said, directing the committee to submit its report by September 13.
