Heingang citizens against discussion on personal life of CM Biren

Local bodies of Heingang Assembly constituency have warned against the questioning of the involvement of people of the assembly constituency in the ongoing Manipur crisis.

Local bodies of Heingang Assembly constituency have warned any organisations or individuals against discussion on the personal life of its local MLA, N Biren Singh, who is also the chief minister of the state, Manipur.

They have also warned against the questioning of the involvement of people of the assembly constituency in the ongoing crisis, adding that failure to comply will result in stringent action against them.

Co-convenor of Heingang Kendra Joint Committee, Naoroibam Barun Meitei, told the media on Thursday at the community hall of Heingang Kangjeibung in Imphal East that during a discussion programme on some electronic media platform, social scientist Dhanabir Laishram and one Sujata of an organisation placed their opinions by criticising the personal life of the local MLA of Heingang Assembly constituency.

He added that they even raised questions about the involvement of people of Heingang Assembly constituency in the current crisis that erupted on May 3, 2023.

Barun said any person can criticize politically on any platform; however, they should not specify by pointing out the name of the assembly constituency.

The local MLA of Heingang Assembly constituency, N Biren Singh, is also the present Chief Minister of Manipur.

Barun said N Biren Singh was elected from the Heingang Assembly constituency as their representative and so, as citizens of Heingang Assembly constituency, any organisation or individual should not criticize Heingang Assembly constituency.

Clarifying about the involvement of people from Heingang Assembly constituency in the ongoing crisis, Barun said the leader of AT, Korounganba, who has been involved in the current crisis since May 3, 2023 is from the assembly constituency.

He said, “Any individual or organisation can get detailed information about those who are involved in the present crisis for the safeguard of Manipur from the Heingang Kendra Joint Committee.”

“If any individual or organisation further discusses or criticizes the personal life of our local MLA or people of Heingang Assembly constituency, then stringent action will be taken against them and they must bear the consequences,” he warned.

He further said Heingang Kendra Joint Committee will be supporting the mass rally of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) scheduled for Friday.

Meanwhile, Kairang Apunba Meitei Pangal also condemned and cautioned against dragging the personal life of its local MLA while criticizing on a public platform or in the media. Former Pradhan of Kairang Khomidok Gram Panchayat, Chesabam Nurjamaan alias Danny, told the media at the community hall of Kairang Tera Makhong, Imphal East, that N Biren Singh, who is the present Chief Minister of Manipur, is also the local MLA of Heingang Assembly constituency.

Some individuals who identified themselves as social scientists and politicians and meira paibi criticized the local MLA of Heingang Assembly constituency by dragging his personal life. Danny added that people of the assembly constituency do not question when criticism is done politically but will not tolerate it when it comes to discussion on the personal life of their elected representative.

“Those who are criticizing the personal life of our elected representative should know that there are many people in the assembly constituency who can sacrifice their lives for our elected representative,” Danny cautioned.
