Manipur Health and family Welfare Minister Dr S Ranjan Singh on Wednesday convened State Supervisory Board (SSB), PC&Pre-Natal Diagnostic Act meeting. The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Directorate of Family Welfare. It was organized to strengthen the implementation of the PC & PNDT Act/Rules in the state of Manipur.
The PC&PNDT Act was enacted by the Indian Parliament to prevent female foeticide in the country resulting from gender discrimination. The meeting also deliberated upon the various steps to prevent gender discrimination and female foeticide and to improve sex ratio in the state.
Further the scheme on the implementation of gender based violence and medico legal care for survivors of sextual violence under PC & PNDT programme was discussed.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Health & FW, V. Vumlunmang, Commissioner Law Nungshitombi Devi, Director RIMS , Director Health Services, Manipur, SMD, NHM Manipur and others.
