The deceased persons are Yumnam Pishak, 70, and Yumnam Premkumar, 38, both father and son were killed together.

The third victim is Yumnam Jiten, 52, son of late Y Ibohal. They all hail from Kwakta Lamkhai Ward No VIII, Bishnupur district. Yumnam Premkumar, a VDF personnel, was posted at Sunusiphai VDF post.

The meeting raised strong condemnations against the killing, stating it was a heinous and a cowardly act as the victims were sleeping in their own home when the incident happened. The father and the son were forced out of their bed to their courtyard and shot dead. Premkumar had several knife injuries on his body. Jiten was allegedly shot in the head beside his bed where Lainingthou Sanamahi (a sacred deity worshiped in every Meitei household) was kept.

The meeting resolved to demand the state government to hand over the case to CBI and  provide state force at Torbung and its neighboring villages.

It demanded that the state government should take up a means to resettle all the dispatched villagers of Torbung Bangla, Phougakchao Ekhai as soon as possible.

The meeting further demanded a removal of  Assam Rifles from Manipur.

Until and unless the state government turns the demand into action, they will not claim the three bodies. The state government should take up action by August 16, the JAC added.
