Hand grenade found near Assam Rifles Transit Camp in Imphal

The grenade was picked up by the Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Squad team at 12.23 pm and disposed of at the dumping site in Lamphel, Imphal.

One Chinese-made hand grenade was found placed near the fencing wall of Assam Rifles Transit Camp, Minuthong under Imphal Police Station at around 11.30 am on Thursday, sources said.

Police said the grenade was picked up by the Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Squad team at 12.23 pm and disposed of at the dumping site in Lamphel, Imphal.

Police investigation for more details regarding the incident is underway.

It may be recalled that on March 11, 2021, militants attacked the same Assam Rifles Transit Camp located near Minuthong bridge. On March 13, one unexploded hand grenade was found around on the southern side of the main gate of the AR camp, about 10 meters away from the spot where one bomb exploded in the attack.
