Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a election campaign trip in Manipur ahead of the state Legislative Assembly elections 2022, lauded the warmth and hospitality of the people in the state and said he enjoyed a “wonderful lunch” in Imphal on Monday.
Rajnath Singh visited the house of Late Yumnam Kalleshor Kom and met his family members in Imphal on Monday and shared pictures of the visit.
“Had a wonderful lunch at the residence of Late Yumnam Kalleshor Kom in Imphal today. The warmth and hospitality of Manipuri people is admirable and adorable,” the Union minister captioned one of the pictures he shared on Twitter, where he is seen relishing lunch in a traditional Manipuri style.
In another photo he tweeted, the minister is seen paying homage to Late Yumnam Kalleshor Kom.
"Visited the house of Indian Army soldier, Late Yumnam Kalleshor Kom who made supreme sacrifice during Kargil War, during my Imphal visit today. Met with his family members and enquired about their well-being. I salute the courage and supreme sacrifice of YK Kom," he tweeted.
The minister also visited a local Gurudwara Mandir in Imphal along with Chief Minister N Biren Singh and offered prayers. He shared several photos of the visit and tweeted: "Paid a visit to local Gurudwara Mandir in Imphal and offered prayers!"
As the state is set to go to polls in two phases - on February 28 and March 5 – Rajnath Singh on Monday addressed three public meetings in Imphal, as a part of his poll campaign for the BJP in Manipur.
