A DBBL gun was seized during a search operation conducted by Imphal East District Police at Keirao Maibam Lampak in Imphal East on Sunday as a part of security measures being taken up in view of the ensuing 12th Manipur legislative assembly election.

The cordon and search operation by a team led by additional SP (law and order, Imphal East, SDPO Porompat, OC Irilbung and Imphal East Commando began at 6 am.

During the operation that lasted till 8 am, around 50 persons underwent verification. The DBBL gun was seized as it was not deposited at a nearby police station despite the order issued to deposit arms, in connection with the coming election.
