Miscreants hurled a Chinese hand grenade at the residence of an assistant sub inspector of Manipur police at Pungdongbam Awang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East on Monday, sources said.

The bomb, however, did not explode. The assistant sub inspector Irengbam Dhanachandra, son of (L) Nanda of Pungdongbam Awang Leikai is currently posted at Anti Thief Team of Manipur Police.

The unexploded bomb was collected by the bomb disposal squad at around 6.50 pm and detonated at a spot near Pungdongbam Awang Leikai Water Supply around 7.28 pm.
