The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) on Saturday urged the state government to regulate a fixed price for fertilisers at a reduced rate.

MSF appealed to the departments concerned of agriculture to publicly notify the rate of fertilisers at a reduced rate at the interest of the farmers.

In a release issued on Saturday, MSF also appealed to the district agriculture officer for timely release of the fertilisers allocated for the farmers.

MSF claimed that farmers who have already faced problems in cultivating the paddy fields due to the indecent rain have faced other problems as the fertilisers are sold at a higher price.

The efforts of fertiliser dealers in supplying the fertilisers during the pandemic are laudable. However, it is unfortunate to know that a few of them have sold the fertilisers at higher rates for their own gains, the release stated.

On June 30, MSF had also appealed to the Agricultural department and the state government to make sure that chemicals, fertilisers, pesticides, insecticides etc. are readily available at a lower price, it added.
