The Manipur government is giving maximum efforts to ensure power supply to every nook and corner of the state as power is crucial in socio-economic development of a region, state Power Minister Th Biswajit said in Imphal on Thursday.

Biswajit was addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of 33/11 KV power substations at Sinakeithei, Tusom, Chingai, Somdal and Kachai villages in Ukhrul district.

The foundation stone was laid virtually during a function held at Sinakeithei Football Ground, Ukhrul district on Thursday. According to the detailed report of MSPDCL, the total estimated costs of the project is over Rs 60 crore.

Pointing out that any kind of development is impossible in an area having no power supply as power is key to industrialisation, Biswajit said as a result the government is committed to provide uninterrupted power supply to every village of Manipur.

Witnessing the various developmental and welfare works taken up by the BJP-led government with its ideology of serving the needy without any biases in terms of casts or religion, the party had won the trust of the people that was missing due to prolonged negligence and failure of the then Congress government to implement sustainable policies and programmes, the minister stated.

With the trust of the people, the BJP will form the government once again and stay for another 20/30 years, while other political parties will secure single digit seats in the upcoming election of Manipur, he added.

Nomination of a sports player of Manipur (Mary Kom) as MP of the Rajya Sabha is a clear example that the BJP-led government at the Centre is giving special focus and empowerment to the people of the state, the Biswajit said.

Appreciating the officials of MSPDCL for their tremendous effort to give uninterrupted power supply in Manipur, he said, “Let us join hands and work together to make Manipur an economically viable state.”
