In commemoration of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, ‘Good Governance Day’ was observed at the residence of intending BJP candidate from Uripok assembly constituency Khwairakpam Raghumani at Kabrabam Leirak on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Raghumani said that the ‘Good Governance’ policy of the BJP government intends to bring welfare and development of the people of all sections and it is bearing desirable results.
He explained that the Good Governance Day (Sushasan Divas) is observed annually across the country on December 25 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna awardee and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who gave a major impetus towards sustainable growth of the country.
He conveyed that Good Governance Day was established in 2014 to honour Prime Minister Vajpayee by fostering awareness among the Indian people of accountability in the government.
He said that the aim of observing this day is to let the students and citizens of the country know about the duties and responsibilities of the government they need to fulfil. Good Governance Day acts as a reminder to the government about their responsibilities and the government should be unbiased, transparent and development-oriented, he added.
Raghumani, a retired IAS officer, said that people of the state should extend support and cooperation to the BJP government to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to equal growth.
He also said that Vajpayee's vision and skill depicted the BJP in the mind of the general public in such a way that after almost a decade, the Bharatiya Janata Party came into power with an unprecedented thumping majority.
Supporters of the intending candidate also observed Good Governance Day in different polling booths of Uripok assembly constituency.
