Lieutenant general Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Spear Corps, visited the Red Shield Division in Leimakhong of Manipur, stated a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing) on Monday.
During his visit, GOC visited Leimakhong Military Station, YKPI and Bishnupur to review the internal security situation and operational preparedness, stated a release.
He held discussions with the GOC Red Shield Division and the Formation Commanders on various facets and challenges of the operating environment in the state, it said. Road map for assisting the state in instilling peace and stability in the state was discussed, it mentioned.
GOC complimented all ranks for high standards of professionalism, selfless commitment, high morale and neutral and unbiased approach, it stated.
The visit underscores the commitment of the Indian Army in addressing the evolving security dynamics in the state, it added.
Meanwhile, in continuation of the search operation and recovering of arms and ammunitions from fringed areas, combined team of Manipur police, BSF, Indian Army recovered explosives including rockets from S Nabil, Churachandpur district on Monday.
In a statement, the Indian Army stated that acting on a specific intelligence of presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of S Nabil area, Churachandpur (Kuki dominated area), the combined team launched a search operation in and around the area.
During the activity the combined team recovered two miniature rockets, ammunition of mortar and war like stores.
The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further necessary procedure.
