Global Hand Washing Day observed

As a part of the event, director of RIMS, professor L Ranjit Singh, distributed certificates and cash rewards to the prize winners of the RIMS Hospital Wardess Cleanliness Contest which was held on October 2.

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal on Saturday observed the Global Hand Washing Day 2022 at its Jubilee Hall in Imphal East. 

In a release issued by RIMS, the institute stated that as a part of the event, director of RIMS, professor L Ranjit Singh, distributed certificates and cash rewards to the prize winners of the RIMS Hospital Wardess Cleanliness Contest which was held on October 2. The competition was held to select the cleanest ward/section/washrooms of the RIMS hospital in connection with the National Cleanliness Day, it added.

PMR Ward stood first position, second position was bagged by Septic Ward and third position went to PostNatal Ward. They were awarded with certificates and cash rewards.

Paediatric Ward, Psychiatry Ward, Casualty Ward, Antenatal Ward & Labour Room, Paediatric Emergency, Gynae Ward, Female Ortho Ward, Female Surgery Ward I & IV, Male Ortho, Neuro ICU and Uro Ward were given consolation prizes, it added. 

The release informed that in cleanest washroom category, Postnatal & Female Medicine Ward Toilet Complex, Causality Emergency Toilet Complex and PMR Toilet Complex got first, second and third position respectively. 

Further, prizes for outstanding performance for various health professionals also were distributed.

Later on, Professor Brogen Singh Akoijam, Professor Kh Ranjana Devi and Ngangbam Sobita spoke on the topic "History of Global Hand Washing Day", "Role of Hand Washing and Infection Prevention" and "Hand washing Technique" respectively. 

Medical Superintendent of RIMS Professor N Sanjib Singh also appreciated all the employees who are working tirelessly and keeping the hospital neat and clean. 

The programme was also attended by HODs, faculty members, Chief Nursing officers and Nursing officials, staff and CRED team.
