Fresh violence erupted yet again at the vicinity of National Sports University between the villages of Konsakhul and Leilon, in which six Konsakhul villagers were allegedly assaulted by Leilon Vaiphei while 22 villagers of Konsakhul were injured in police action.

In view of the tension, the district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC 144 in the general area and has deployed a large number of police commandos.

Animosity between the two villages came out in the open when some miscreants from Leilon Vaiphei village reportedly destroyed a Konsakhul-bound JCB while also abducting two youths of Konsakhul.

The two identified as Ch Rocky (34), son of (L) Achum and D Lunggenbou (46), son of D Dirangbou were rescued by police later on.

Villagers of Konsakhul use the route through Leilon Vaiphei village to reach their village through Leimakhong. It may be mentioned that Leilon Vaiphei village was formerly known as "Nungyungbi" inhabited by the Liangmei community.

After a temporary truce, violence once again erupted when Konsakhul womenfolk went to demand the return of a Yamaha Fascino seized by Leilon villagers.
