A local club of Khurai Puthiaba Leikai, Imphal East has barred four persons from entering the locality for allegedly attacking one family with weapons, till appropriate legal action is taken against them.
Khurai Social Youth Club (KSYC) general secretary Laishram Indelio told mediapersons on Sunday that at around 11 pm Saturday, four persons identified as Th Sommorendro, 59; Th Bijoy, 48; Th Ratan and Th Rohit, 28, attacked family members of one Thangjam Premchand, 45, residing in the same locality, with weapons.
Premchand received injury on his left index finger from a knife attack while another two members of the family, identified as Thangjam Kanon, 50 and Thangjam Ashananda, 26, were brutally assaulted with the weapons, said Indelio.
The injured were taken to Shija Hospital for immediate treatment, Indelio said, adding some of the local club members rushed to the spot to help but the four threatened them not to interfere.
Appealing to the authorities concerned to take necessary legal action against the four accused, the KSYC leader said the four will be barred from the locality till appropriate legal action is taken against them.
A case has been registered at Porompat police station by the victim’s family and the four accused persons have been picked up by a team of Porompat police station.
