Former Guwahati High Court Judge Ashok Potshangbam's death condoled

Members of All Manipur Bar Association, All Manipur Judicial Officer’s Association and court staff expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden death of Ashok Potshangbam, who breathed his last on April 20, 2022 at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.

The All Manipur Judicial Officer’s Association, All Manipur Bar Association and court staff on Friday condoled the demise of retired justice of Guwahati High Court, Ashok Potshangbam.

The condolence meeting was held at the conference hall of All Manipur Judicial Officer’s Association and was attended by presiding officer of Revenue Tribunal Manipur, N Rajnikanta; District and Session Judge, Imphal East, RK Memcha Devi and All Manipur Bar Association president, Maibam Nilachandra.

The meeting observed a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Justice Asok Potsangbam was born on April 21, 1949 at Khagempali Pankha and completed his LLB from Delhi University in 1974.

During his lifetime, Justice Asok served as a secretary of All India Bar Association, North East Unit, president of Assam State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and as Advocate General of Manipur for three terms.

He was appointed as an Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court on September 26, 2007 and retired from the Court on May 31, 2013. He started practising law as an Advocate under late Justice Nongmeikapam Ibotombi.
