The United Political and Social Forum (UPSF) on Sunday alleged the security forces of protecting foreigners involved in the Manipur crisis and demanded a clarification from both the Centre and state government concerning the alleged protection given without identification or any action.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club, UPSF convenor H Gitanjen Meitei said that it is highly suspicious why the government is silent without giving any proper clarification about the crisis after three months of turmoil in the state. The Manipur government should come out with white paper of every action taken up in connection with the crisis, he said.
“Are there two chief ministers in Manipur? Law and order is strictly followed in the valley while it is the complete opposite in the hills,” he asked.
Huge numbers of security forces are being deployed in the state but the attacks and firing have not stopped. The displaced people are not able to return to their own villages yet, he said. “What is the purpose of deploying huge numbers of security forces when the firings are not stopped,” he said.
The government should discuss with the victim’s family members, not listen to Kuki’s demands or else the organisation will be ready to face them, he said.
Concerning the use of the term ‘Chin-Kuki Narco-Terrorist,’ if the indigenous Kukis of Manipur are not involved in the conflict, then they should declare it, he said.
He urged the state government to take action for resettlement of displaced Mchin kuki, eitei from Torbung Bangal back to their original locality with state force protection.
Media Coordinator, Mutum Robindro said that the Central government is actually working in favor of Kukis although it seems to work in favor of the Meiteis.
The Central government keeps different agendas for Meiteis and Kukis. If this policy continues, then a civil war will rise, he said.
“Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself announced that the conflict includes outsiders. Why is he not resolving the conflict so far? Is India supporting foreign terrorists or trying to demolish the Meitei community?” he said.
