The Federation of Civil Society Organizations (FOCS) Manipur on Wednesday demanded the removal of Central paramilitary forces and security advisor Kuldiep Singh alleging that they have completely disregarded their duties and failed to prevent the escalating violence in Manipur.
A press release from FOCS highlighted the rising tension in Jiribam where Kuki militants torched the residence of retired police officer, Sinam Bipin, in the Borobekra sub-division of Jakuradhor Bazar, Jiribam district in the early hours on Wednesday.
FOCS condemned the attack and lambasted both the Central paramilitary forces and security advisor for their failure to rein in the security situation in Manipur.
FOCS highlighted that attacks and arson have continued despite the heavy presence of Central forces in the region.
As such, the organisation accused the forces of failing to intervene effectively while militants roam freely attacking Meitei villages in the periphery.
Therefore, the organisation demanded the immediate withdrawal of Central security forces from Manipur for their inability to safeguard the local population effectively.
