Domestic passenger flight operations resumed at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal on Monday after flight services were suspended due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
On the first day of operations, four flights arrived at Imphal and four flights departed from the airport, after a break of nearly two months.
As per information from the airport authority, 460 passengers arrived in four different flights from Delhi and Guwahati while 120 passengers departed from Imphal Airport.
Three flights were cancelled on the first day of resumption owing to the flood at the Kolkata airport. Seven flight services each - departure and arrival - were scheduled for Monday.
The authority further mentioned that there would be six flight services for Tuesday but cannot be assured if the flight would be cancelled or not.
The passengers who departed from Imphal were made to follow the guidelines as preventive measures to avoid spread of COVID-19.
The incoming passengers were screened at the arrival terminal with a full body thermal scanning machine, installed for the first time at the airport.
The passengers were ferried to an institutional quarantine centre at Human Resource Academy (HRD), Ghari to quarantine as per government protocol.
Sources said that the remaining passengers would be kept at Little Flower School, Imphal.
