First discourse on Lord Chaitanya held in Imphal

Lord Chaitanya is a follower of Vaishnavism, but his belief on oneness as mankind is the most beautiful ideology which should be followed by all, said MLA O Surjakumar while addressing the discourse.

The first discourse on Lord Chaitanya was held in observance of his 488th death anniversary on Tuesday at the Old Assembly Auditorium in Imphal West. 

Lord Chaitanya is a follower of Vaishnavism, but his belief in oneness as mankind is the most beautiful ideology which should be followed by all, said MLA O Surjakumar while addressing the discourse.

Stating that none of the religious books insist on hating other religions, he called on the people to stay alert from such cult and those who are trying to misguide the followers of any religion by wrongly interpreting its concepts.

The discourse was organised to spread the concept of humanity and tolerance followed by Lord Chaitanya, in this conflict society so that it can set a model in making a prosperous and peaceful Manipur, said member of the organising committee Ksh Santa while delivering the keynote address of the function.

General secretary of ISMAGAVA, eminent writer L Memo Singh; Manipur Literary Society former president S Prahlad Sharma and director of Irawat Centre for Marxist Studies Sarat Salam attended the programme as guests of honour, while president of Manipur Library Association Kangjam Chaoba presided the function.
