The Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy in Imphal witnessed a two-day State Level Festival of Manipuri Folk Song culminating with captivating performances by 21 artists showcasing Pena, Khulang Eshei, and Khunung Eshei.
Organised by PHIDAM under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the event aimed to celebrate and preserve Manipuri folk songs, which face the threat of extinction.
Speaking at the occasion, PHIDAM secretary Samurailatpam Aruna expressed the organisation’s deep commitment to arts and culture.
“In an earnest endeavor to elevate the stature of Manipuri folk songs, which are at the brink of extinction, this festival was curated in collaboration with renowned gurus and artists from Manipur,” she stated.
The event also witnessed the presence of Pukhrambam Bilash director of JNMDA; Leimapokpam Anandi Devi founder president of Guru Ibempishak Cultural Academy; and Lourembam Bedabati recipient of the State Kala Akademi Award.
