Speaking to media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, paternal uncle of the baby girl Ningthoujam Joychandra informed that his niece was admitted at the Moirang Community Health centre on the intervening night of August 23 and 24 at around 1 am.

“The doctor who was on night duty provided the baby girl with basic medical care and told the family that nothing was serious,” he said.

He stated that the baby spent the entire night after which another doctor named Dr Naresh, who was on the morning duty, advised the family members to take the baby girl to a hospital in Imphal.

By the time the information was given it was already too late and she died on the way before reaching hospital in Imphal, he added.

As such, the family of the baby girl demanded authorities concerned to initiate stringent action against Dr Raichandra for failing to attentively look after the patient which eventually led to her demise.
