In a bizarre incident, a family returned home to Kontam village under Sapermeina Police Station in Senapati district from a trip to Imphal, only to find a dead person in their bathroom on Friday.
The incident happened at the residence of Kontam village chief Ngamminlun Kipgen at around 10.30 pm. According to police, family members of the village chief had gone to Imphal for some time. Upon their return, they came across a foul smell emanating from the bathroom.
On checking, they found the decomposed body lying there. After inspection by a forensic team, the body has been kept at RIMS Mortuary.
Police are under suspicion that the body could be of a drug user as an injection mark was found near the elbow.
On the other hand, the decomposed body that was found from Imphal river near Sanjenthong bridge under Imphal Police Station on May 1 was handed over to Imphal Municipality for disposal on Saturday after conducting a post mortem at RIMS.
