Police sources said that morning joggers came across the bomb that was allegedly planted by miscreants in front of the gate of one Sanasam Brojendro Singh's house, at Nungoi Awang Leikai, Imphal East.

At about 9.35 am, a combined team of Lamlai police station along with the state Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) rushed to the spot and safely diffused the IED which was planted inside a black coloured can. It is reported that the IED weighed about 1.5 kilogram.

Later, the IED was safely detonated in a nearby paddy field at Nungoi Awang Leikai, Imphal East district at about 9.45 am. It is reported that Brojen is an active worker of former local MLA Ksh Biren.
