Excisable articles worth around Rs 30.43 lakh destroyed in Imphal West

Superintendent of police, excise Th Brucelee told the media at his office chamber that a total of 1,567.60 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 1,145.47 litres of Beer and 17,590.75 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor were destroyed.

Imphal West Excise under phase II destroyed various brands of excisable articles worth around Rs 30,43,213 under section 69 of Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991 at the excise headquarter, Lamphelpat on Sunday.

Superintendent of police, excise Th Brucelee told the media at his office chamber that a total of 1,567.60 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 1,145.47 litres of Beer and 17,590.75 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor were destroyed.

The said items were destroyed in association with the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election enforcement team, Imphal East and West districts under the supervision of state nodal officer of excise, he said.

Under Phase I, the Excise department had destroyed 1,195.25 litres of IMFL; 656 litres of beer and 4,310 litres of DIC liquor total worth of around Rs 13,44,050 on February 7, he said.

He said that the excisable articles were destroyed by the personnel of the department of excise and later they were crushed and dumped with the help of an excavator.  

The Excise enforcement team of Imphal East and West had seized a total of Rs 43,87,263 of excisable articles including IMFL, Beer and DIC liquor during several drives in connection with the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
