The Tousem Sub-Divisional office which is temporarily being run at Tamenglong district headquarters in Manipur has been agreed to be fully functional at Tousem sub-divisional headquarters.
In this regard, Tousem Headquarters Students’ Union (THSU) Information and Publicity Secretary Lungta Panme warned that the district administration and SDO Tousem should take immediate and concrete steps to fulfil their demands by December 1, failing which they threatened to launch various forms of democratic agitations.
In a joint statement, Lungta Panme said that Zeme Students’ Organisation Manipur, Tousem Headquarters Students’ Union, Tousem Area Students’ Organisation, and Chramram Segment Voice had met with the District Magistrate of Tamenglong on November 25 to address the expiration of the agreement signed on September 26.
During the meeting the CSOs conveyed to the District Magistrate that the agreement has lapsed and accordingly, CSOs have mutually agreed on a timeframe for the District Administration to ensure full functioning of the SDO Office at Tousem by shifting it to its designated location, he added.
“We expect this transition to be completed no later than December 1, 2024. It has been mutually agreed upon by both parties that the SDO office will be fully functional at Tousem Headquarter from December 2. We remain hopeful that the District Administration will collaborate with us to resolve this matter amicably and without delay”, he added.
