Encroachers along Maharani Bridge to Naoremthong in Imphal to be evicted

Lamphelpat SDO Pooja Elangbam had issued an eviction order to unauthorised occupants from Naoremthong, Uripok Kangchup Road to Maharani Bridge on September 10 to vacate the illegal encroachments on the road before 5 pm of September 22, 2020.

Unauthorised occupants and illegal structures along Maharani Bridge to Naoremthong road will be evicted on Saturday at 9 am, sub-divisional officer, Lamphelpat, Pooja Elangbam ordered on Thursday.

The SDO had issued an eviction order to unauthorised occupants from Naoremthong, Uripok Kangchup Road to Maharani Bridge on September 10 to vacate the illegal encroachments on the road before 5 pm of September 22, 2020.

According to the eviction order, the encroachments are causing obstruction/nuisance to the general public and water-logging during rains.  

“The notice was proclaimed to the unauthorised occupants/ encroachers by the officer-in-charge, Imphal Police Station using loudspeakers. However it has been reported by the SDC, Imphal West (Central) that the unauthorised occupants are continuing to encroach upon the said road thereby amounting to non-compliance of the served notice,” Pooja said in the order.

The SDC also said that the eviction will be carried out with the assistance of adequate number of police personnel to be provided by OC, Imphal Police Station.

The municipal commissioners of Imphal Municipal Corporation and executive engineer of Public Works Department, Imphal West Division shall make necessary arrangements for providing the equipment and machinery required, she added.
