Research Forum, Manipur (REFORM) on Saturday congratulated and extended acknowledgement to Elangbam Bishwajeet on being appointed as visiting professor at Aston University, Birmingham in United Kingdom.
A release issued by REFORM congratulated Elangbam Bishwajeet on being appointed as a visiting professor at Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom. Elangbam Bishwajeet who is a doctor from Manipur, is working as a consultant in Accident and Emergency Medicine, West Birmingham and Sandwell Trust, NHS, Birmingham, United Kingdom, it stated. He is the first doctor from Northeast India to become a consultant in Emergency Medicine, and he was also awarded with Star Award, 2018 at Birmingham by the England Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, it mentioned.
It stated that Bishwajeet is the first Manipuri to get copyrights from the British Library to exhibit and share the rare photographs of Manipur during the reign of the British rule in Manipur. He had also introduced a gardening concept in Manipur called ‘Blooming Manipur’, it also added.
Recalling Elangbam Bishwajeet’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, it added that he had also set up the ‘Manipur Emergency Support Group’ to raise funds from various groups across the world and donated oxygen concentrators and Hi-Flow oxygen mask to almost all the hospitals and public health centres of Manipur.
