ED attaches properties worth Rs 63 crore of Sanasam Jacky Singh, submits charge sheet

The ED has submitted a charge sheet against Sanasam Jacky, chairman of the Lamjingba Group of companies, and others before the Special Judge Prevention of Money Laundering Act Imphal East.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday submitted a charge sheet against Sanasam Jacky Singh, chairman of the Lamjingba Group of companies, and others before the Special Judge Prevention of Money Laundering Act Imphal East under section 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

The ED has also provisionally attached immovable/movable properties worth Rs 63,18,52,275 (book value) belonging to Sanasam Jacky Singh and his associates in a Ponzi scheme, out of total POC of Rs 600 crore (approx).

The charge sheet of the Enforcement Directorate was submitted against Sanasam Jacky, son of (L) Kulla of Babu Bazar; Mutum Robindro, son of Tomba of Babu Bazar; Lamjinba Management Service Private limited; Lamjingba Hotel and Resort Private Limited; Lamjingba Motors Private Limited; Lamjingba Dairy Private Limited; Lamjingba infra development Private limited; Lamjingba Jewellery private limited and Lamjingba Times Private Limited (all represented through its chairman cum managing director Sanasam Jacky).

The charge sheet was filed by the Enforcement Directorate, Government of India, Imphal Sub Zonal office under section 45(1) read with section 44 of the prevention of the Money laundering Act against the alleged accused persons for commission of offence under section 3 read with section 70 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act punishable under section 4 of the same act along with a prayer for taking cognizance of the offence of the submitted charge sheet and proceed against the alleged accused according to the law.

The court, after hearing the submission of N Borjendro, Special PP, Enforcement Directorate, and on perusal of the submitted charge sheet accompanying documents, observed the prima facie case against the alleged accused persons under section 4 of Prevention of Money laundering Act.

The court took cognizance under section 4 of Prevention of Money Laundering Act against the alleged accused and issued notice to the alleged accused person’s returnable on or before April 20 and fixed April 20 for their appearance before the court.

It may be mentioned that Sanasam Jacky was arrested by a team of ED from Hotel Novotel, Kolkata on January 21 after searches were carried out at five different places in Manipur and two places of Gurugram on the previous day.

While the accused was in judicial custody in connection with the case registered by ED, Imphal Police made formal arrest of Sanasam Jacky in connection with eight different cases registered against him, allegedly for running a fraudulent scheme during 2017 and 2021 that promised investors high returns with little or no risk.
