The All Manipur Tribal Development and Grievances Forum (AMTDGF) on Thursday announced that the indefinite economic blockade at National Highways of Manipur, which was scheduled to start on October 22, has been postponed to November 3 in view of the festive season.
The AMTDGF announced in a release that the indefinite economic blockade of all the National Highways of the state has been postponed in view of the festivals of Diwali and Ningol Chakouba in the valley areas of Manipur.
It condemned the state government for "not fully" releasing the payments under MGNREGS in the hills districts of the state.
“The forum would like to remind the state government to urgently release funds under MGNREGS for payment of outstanding due wages, materials components and liabilities pending for the fiscal year 2019 to 2023,” it stated.
It cautioned that if the state government fails to meet the demand by October 30, the forum will impose indefinite economic blockade on all the National Highways of Manipur.
