A one-day friendly football match ‘Dural Derby’ was held at the Chakpikarong High School Ground, Chakpikarong sub-division in Chandel district in a bid to spread awareness on the importance of sports and the issue of drugs on Saturday.
Dural Derby, organised by the Chakpi Young Minds (CYM), was held under the theme ‘Youth - Synergy for the spirit of sports and drug free’.
The match was played by two collective teams from different villages of Chakpikarong sub division. In all, 44 players participated in the one-day football friendly match.
Ch Morning Anal, member of CYM, said the intention of the match was to bring unity amongst the youths of Chakpikarong and to raise awareness against the usage of drugs and its consequences.
"We're planning to host this event every month. So, I urge every youth of Chakpikarong to give your support and cooperation. This event will help us bring peace, harmony and unity amongst the youths in the subdivision and also let's make our small town healthy and a drug free society,” Morning added.
Warngam Nula, Ex-ADC member, EM attended the event as special guest of the event and urged all the youths of Chakpikarong to come together not just in sports but also in building the society for a better generation.
Nula advised the youngsters to stay away from drugs and other intoxicants. He promised to repair the goalpost which was left unattended for months and appreciated the CYM members for organizing such an event and promised to help in the coming days.
The match ended in a peaceful and spirited manner. Two players, Tangkhel Langhu and Koboy Nula were awarded with the man of the match awards.
