Churachandpur police on Tuesday arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized 1,306 tablets of suspected WY along with cash and mobile from Bijang village in Churachandpur district.
According to Churachandpur, they received reliable information around 8:30 pm on Tuesday that one Kamkhosei Hanghal was frequently selling/supplying WY tablets (narcotic substance) at Bijang village areas, Churachandpur.
Accordingly, a requisition was made to the DM/CCP to depute one EM, which was granted i.e., Jangminlien Lupho, MCS, SDO of Tuibong and independent witnesses for conducting house search at the residence of the suspected person. Then, a team of CCP-PS led by OC-CCP PS, Inspector Thangzamuan and OC of Women police, Inspector Chinneihlam rushed to the residence of the said individual.
After the residence of Kamkhosei Hanghal was identified, a search operation was conducted in the presence of the EM and independent witnesses. During the search, seven plastic packets, suspected to contain WY tablets, were detected. On opening one of the plastic packets, it was found to contain suspected WY tablets and on counting all the seven packets, it was found to contain 1306 tablets of suspected WY, police said
The suspected WY tablets were packed and sealed in a white cloth in the presence of SDO/Tuibuong and independent witnesses and packed. Rs 14,990 (suspected to be the proceeds of drug transaction), an Infinix brand mobile phone were seized and the individual namely Kamkhosei Hanghal (33), son of (L) Lhukhopao of Mongnelphai a/p Bijang family lane arrested at 8:58 pm.
A case under FIR No 17(2)2023 CCP-PS under section 22(c) NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation.
