The Manipur government stated that the attack using drones, bombs and sophisticated weapons on unarmed Koutruk villagers on Sunday is an attempt to derail the efforts taken by the state government to establish peace in the state, and strongly condemned the incident.
The attack reportedly carried out by Kuki militants caused the death of two persons and injuries to many, stated a release issued by the Secretariat, Home department.
Such an act of terrorising the unarmed villagers is viewed seriously by the state government, when it is putting all possible efforts towards bringing normalcy and peace in thesState, it stated
The state government has already taken up immediate action to control the situation and to punish those who were involved in today’s attack on Koutruk village, Imphal West, it added.
Meanwhile, DGP issued an alert to all district SPs and officials concerned, directing them including those in the fringe areas as well as as respective areas to remain on maximum alert and vigilant.
There must be proper coordination between the forces deployed in order to prevent any untoward incidents, it stated. Further directing to launch joint combing operations, it stated that the paramilitary forces, ADGP (law and order), Zonal ISGP, Range DIsGP must critically monitor the law and order situation to prevent any untoward incidents.
