Driving test mandatory for licence: Manipur government

The driving test to be conducted at Institute of Driver’s Training and Research Centre (IDTRC), Imphal East with immediate effect.

The Manipur government has informed all the concerned and the general public that there will be a compulsory driving test before the issue of permanent Smart Card driving licence.

The latest notification issued by Director (Transport), Nivedita Lairenlakpam on Thursday stated that the driving test will be conducted at Institute of Driver’s Training and Research Centre (IDTRC), Top Dussara, Imphal East with immediate effect.

It also listed the DTO offices and days scheduled for the test. It mentioned that DTO, Imphal East will oversee the driving test on Monday and Saturday, while DTO, Imphal West on Tuesday and Friday, DTO, Bishnupur on Wednesday and DTO, Thoubal on Thursday.

In case of other remaining DTOs, there will also be mandatory driving tests conducted at suitable places arranged by the respective DTO office before issue of permanent driving licence with immediate effect, it stated.

It added that the DTO’s will provide slots for the driving test to the applicants. The same applies to driving licences for all 2-wheeler, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers (LMV) and all types of heavy vehicles, it said.
