Draft NEC Vision 2047 withdrawn

Under ‘Chapter 3: Art, Culture and Natural Heritage’ which mentions about the migration of ethnic tribes in the Northeast region, the term ‘Kukis (Chin)’ has been found to be falsely described as ‘from the Chin State of Manipur.’

The Draft NEC Vision 2047 has been withdrawn after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh urged Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region JM Scindia and concerned officials for necessary corrections regarding a mistake that was found in information related to the tribal communities of North East region in the context of Manipur.

Under ‘Chapter 3: Art, Culture and Natural Heritage’ which mentions about the migration of ethnic tribes in the Northeast region, the term ‘Kukis (Chin)’ has been found to be falsely described as ‘from the Chin State of Manipur.’

Chief Minister N Biren Singh personally communicated with Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, JM Scindia and gave directions to the chief secretary, Vineet Joshi for necessary corrections.

A statement addressed to respective chief secretaries of the North Eastern state by Planning Advisor Som Kamei vide File No.: PLG-2506/1/2024-PLG dated August 17, 2024 stated that the zero/ first draft of NEC Vision Plan 2047, shared vide M/o DoNER’s email dated August 9 and August 17, 2024 are hereby withdrawn, inviting reference to D.O. No. NEC-17/24/2023-UNDER SECRETARY(A) dated August 9, 2024 of Secretary, NEC.
