A young doctor and his mother died in a road accident near Makhan Bridge located about 20 km from Mao on Thursday.
Dr Franco Heisnam, 37, of Khongman Mangjil accompanied by his parents were on their way from Imphal to Mao to submit his joining report at sub district Hospital - Mao when the four wheeler (I-10 car) he was driving reportedly fell along the side of the highway.
Dr Franco along with his parents were rushed to Senapati District Hospital; however, the doctor and his mother, H Memi failed to respond to medical treatment and died at the hospital. The father, H Chatarjit, 61, is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries at Raj Medicity hospital.
Following requests from family members to Mao police station not to take up a case in regard with the incident, post mortems were also not conducted, police sources said.
