In a heartwarming event, Laiphrakpam Kiranmala, a displaced class 6 student studying at Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Imphal, was felicitated by the school authority for achieving positions on various events of gymnastics at the State Level Gymnastics Championship 2024.
L Kiranmala clinched medals in three of the four events she took part in. She also secured the overall third position of the championship.
L Kiranmala is the daughter of L Ibochou Meetei and Chinchin Laiphrakpam who is presently residing at the temporary shelter in Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West. They originally hail from Kangpokpi Shanti Veng, Kangpokpi district.
Kiranmala started her gymnastics training only after she was displaced and was selected by SAI.
Speaking at the felicitation event, principal of Lamlong Higher Secondary School MW Tharawon extended heartiest greetings to Kiranmala for her achievement at such a young age.
“Her achievement under such circumstances is an ode to her dedication and grit even under such demanding circumstances,” she said.
She wished Kiranmala and other students under similar circumstances would strive harder to break away from their situations and rise higher in life.
“I wish they continue to bring laurels to the state and the people,” she added. Vice principal of the school M Vidyapati, assistant head mistress T Chanu Shantibala among others were present during the event.
