Most of the areas of Manipur are in hilly region and due to that, a different and unique method of agriculture is needed, moreover more profitable crops, having high value crops, are needed to be planted in order to get more profit instead of imitating other methods from outside the state, said Meghachandra.

Under the Institute of Seed Science, ICAR has been trying to produce paddy and spices having high value crops especially for the hilly regions of north east. Similarly, ICAR, Manipur, in collaboration with different KVKs of Manipur, are trying to produce paddy and other spices having high crop value especially that suits the geographical climate of Manipur, he added.

To bring more agricultural products various awareness cum training programmes have been conducted to educate the farmers which will help the farmers on ‘double the farmer’s income’ which is a vision of the present government, he added.
