Heirok Part III Development Committee Meira Paibi Lup, Heirok condoled the demise of Poirei Leimarol Meira paibi Apunba Manipur President Ima Longjam Memchoubi at Heirok market on Sunday night.
They also honoured the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the state during the ongoing ethnic violence and to the two innocent students Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi who were allegedly killed by the Kuki militants.
A candlelight vigil was held for the departed souls and floral tributes were also paid.
Speaking to media, Meira Paibi Lup, Heirok president Moirangthem Gambini recalled that Ima Memchoubi took major roles to encourage the meira paibi organisations across the state. She appealed to CM Biren to fulfill the demands made by Ima Memchoubi when she was alive.
She urged the government to recover the bodies of two students allegedly killed by the Kukis and hand it over to the families to perform their last rites. It also warned the government of various agitations if their demands are not fulfilled. Various slogans were also chanted by the meira paibis.
