Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) and Manipur Innovative Youth Organisation, Delhi (MAIYOND) on Thursday extended support and solidarity with the students of the state.
Following the recent terror attacks, the student agitators of Manipur met with the Governor of Manipur presenting six points demands, stating a joint release.
The students are also demanding to provide the Unified Command Authority to the chief minister of Manipur, it stated. They decided not to return home and stay together at the Khwairamband Ema Keithel until the demand is fulfilled, it mentioned.
We believe the strong movement they took up is the need of the hour during this crucial period of the state, it added.
“We jointly condemn the actions of the state and central forces towards the students. As citizens of the nation, we have the fundamental right for any harmless protest to be conducted within the framework of the constitution,” it stated.
“If the actions of these forces were done to the militants, the fresh violence could have been controlled to a big extent. We pray for the speedy recovery of all our brothers and sisters and we really appreciate every student for the steps taken up. We would also like to express our commitment and determination in protecting the lives of innocent civilians, and to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state,” it added.
