CSOs of Moreh on Sunday condemned 20 Assam Rifles (AR) Khudengthabi check post for the unnecessarily delaying an ambulance, which allegedly caused the demise of a patient in the vehicle who was in need of urgent medical attention.
A release jointly issued by Hill Tribal Council Moreh president Victor Limthang, Moreh Youth Club president Philip K Khongsai, Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi Moreh president Thangjangam Haokip, Kuki Students Organisation Moreh Block president Lalhrietsang Hmar, and KWUHR president Romila Mate condemned the 20 AR Khudengthabi check post for the unnecessary delay of the ambulance with the patient on board.
It mentioned that the patient was in need of urgent medical attention, and alleged that the delay at the check post led to the unfortunate demise of the patient. “Proof of identity of the concerned, medical reference and vehicle documents should be adequate reasons to allow the patient party to proceed peacefully,” it stated.
Although complaints and suggestions have been given to the authority concerned regarding the need to introduce an efficient and systematic checking at the check post, all efforts were in vain, it mentioned.
“The current system of treating all types of vehicles with the same treatment has caused the demise of the patient,” it further stated.
Acknowledging the efforts of the AR for the security of civilians and the control of illegal trades etc, the release stressed on the need of “proper public sentiment and etiquette.”
