A sit-in protest and rally against the death of Shamom Ningol Ningthoujam (O) Chingkheinganbi Devi alias Chingkhei was organised at Arong community hall near Arong Nongmaikhong Police Station on Monday.
In a release, JAC Against Chingkhei Meeshi stated that the event was participated by members of Meira Paibi, local clubs, JAC, students, youth, women, and women organisations.
The protesters shouted slogans such as, “we want justice” and “we condemn the death of Chingkhei”, it added.
Recalling its demands, the JAC stated that until the authorities bring justice to the “suspicious” death of Chingkhei, her body will not be claimed.
Demanding for an FIR to be registered for the initiation of the proper investigation, it cautioned that the JAC along with the public will take up various forms of protests until the post mortem result is not provided by Wednesday.
