DC Tamenglong urges citizens to vote peacefully

As many as 33 woman polling stations have been prepared. Three polling stations with all women staff have been planned, Returning officer and deputy commissioner, Tamenglong, Hungyo Worshang said.

Returning officer and deputy commissioner, Tamenglong, Hungyo Worshang on Saturday urged all citizens of Tamenglong district to come out and vote peacefully in a free and fair manner at the ensuing 12th general state assembly election.

Like the previous election during which Tamenglong district did not conduct a re-poll, the 12th general state assembly election should be conducted peacefully, he said and urged all not to spread false information.

DC Tamenglong was speaking to the media at his official residence on Saturday evening.

He also informed that Tamenglong district has three assembly constituencies, namely Tamei, Tamenglong and Nungba and 211 polling stations are prepared for the ensuing election.

He said Tamei assembly constituency has 93 polling stations, Tamenglong has 64 and Nungba assembly constituency has 52 polling stations.

He further informed that as many as eight nomination papers have been collected from Tamei and Tamenglong. As for Nungba assembly constituency, candidates are not finalised yet, he added.

He said that nominations can be filed on any working day from 11 am to 3pm till February 11. The scrutiny is fixed on February 14 while the last date of withdrawal is February 16, he said.

Warshang further said that as many as 33 woman polling stations have been prepared. Three polling stations with all women staff have been planned, he added.
