Keeping in view the alarming surge of COVID-19 infections in the district, the DC of Kangpokpi in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Cr PC, 1972, and in accordance with the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 has imposed curfew in the district for 10 days with effect from Sunday.
According to the order issued by the DC order on Saturday, there shall be no movement of persons or vehicles and no carrying out of any business activity except for particular exempted activities during the Curfew period.
The exempted activities include media, Telecom, Internet service, power, fire services, PHED, CAFPD, Police, Medical and Health, Relief and DM, and district administration. It also includes movement of COVID-19 vaccination and testing related to staff and beneficiaries, agriculture and horticulture activities with proper Covid protocols, goods trucks, petrol pumps, LPG distribution, and air travel.
Pharmacies will be open regularly as usual with fortnightly COVID-19 free certificates from the MO concerned in charge of the area, it stated.
Meanwhile, Kangpokpi Town Committee has relocked Kangpokpi Bazaar in regard to the curfew in the town from July 18.
With 23 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours and 39 Covid patients cured and discharged, the number of active cases stands at 159 while the fatalities remained at 47.
