CSOs to protest at Jantar Mantar against bombing in Manipur

The protest seeks to raise awareness of the critical situation in Manipur and calls for the protection of innocent lives, stated a release.

A protest will be organised at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi against the ‘Aerial Bombing on the Civilians Inside the Indian State of Manipur by Terrorists (Kuki Sectarian forces)’ by the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) in collaboration with the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) with support from the Meitei Alliance on Sunday at 2.30 pm.

The protest seeks to raise awareness of the critical situation in Manipur and calls for the protection of innocent lives, stated a release. 

Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, former military officers, central security forces, SC advocate Bhanu Pratap Singh,spokesperson, DMCC Bobo, representative of students, youth and civil society organisations from Delhi, and relatives of Meetei victims’ families will be taking part in the protest. Rajya Sabha MP (Manipur) Maharaja Sanajaoba Leisemba may also attend the event, it stated.

Since May 3, 2023,  the Meetei community has faced severe disruptions due to violent actions from specific groups, it mentioned. The increasing use of terrorism, including drone strikes, long-range missiles, and warhead rockets targeting Manipuri citizens, has intensified the need for urgent intervention and collective action, it added.
