The District Magistrate of Thoubal has imposed prohibitory orders under sub-section 2 of Section 144 Cr PC, 1973 in 18 examination centres located within the jurisdiction of Thoubal District for the upcoming class 10 examination which will start from March 16.
A Subhash Singh, District Magistrate of Thoubal issued the order stating that immediate preventive measures are required to be taken up to ensure conduct of smooth, free and fair examination in a peaceful and transparent manner and to extend all possible help to the concerned officer-in-charge of the examination centres.
The order was released to prevent breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity, danger to human lives and properties and to prevent rioting for a free and fair examination in and around the examination centres in Thoubal District, the order stated.
The order also prohibited assembly of five or more persons and carrying of lethal weapons such as sticks, stones, firearms etc within the periphery of 100 metres from the examination centres.
The order will come into force with effect from 8 am to 1 pm of March 16 till April 3.
